Tuesday is the last day of July!!

My, my how time flies when you're having fun! It will be August in two days and we hate to see the summer go fleeting by. We haven't had the terrible heat that was happening in southern Michigan and have only had to run the air two days. It works great, but its nice not to have to use it much.
We are looking forward to a visit from Mke and Amy and the kids this weekend along with Steve, and Aaron and Mike Rowe and his wife (oh, and their little ones too). The weather is supposed to stay nice and hopefuly we will get out on Lake Michigan to sample the salmon fishing that is supposed to be so good this year. Nancy and I spent a day on Glen Lake drowning minnows in search of the elusive perch dinner. We got one perch and a few small bass, but didn't get the dinner part of our agenda. Thank goodness Carlson's is still catching whitefish, we bought some filets and had that for dinner today.
The swimming has been wonderful on Glen Lake and Lake Michigan. We took a swim in L. M. this afternoon and the water was a little cooler due to an offshore breeze, but nothing we couldn't handle. How refreshing!!

There's a storm rolling in ths evening and we are hoping for a good rain.

Hope all is well with everyone reading this!!

Summer is Flying By!

The days are flying by and it is almost August! The summer has been a lot of fun so far with a lot of company and good times.Laura and Sean spent the week with us (and Kara and Nolan too!). We had a lot of sunny weather and hardly any rain. The kids got to go to the beach and catch frogs and play in Otter Creek, Shalda Creek and Lake Michigan. We went for a couple of boat rides on Big Glen Lake and we took the kids in to Glen Arbor for ice cream cones and to the playground.
On Saturday Sean and I took the kids over to Suttons Bay for the classic boat show. We got there just as it started to rain, and it lasted long enough for the playground to get wet. There were only a handful of old boats at the show, and mainly small ones. We did get a tour through a schooner used for science trips with the Inland Seas Education program. That was very interesting. They take kids out on the great lakes to study the ecology and health of the lakes.
Anyone who hasn't been up to see us this summer should call and make plans to see us before the weather starts turning.
Here are some pictures from the week....

Another week of Up North Michigan Summer

Wow, looks like my daily posts are turning into weekly posts! We've been enjoying the summer and all of the company we have had the past two weeks. Rick and Lori were up for the week at Lori's mom's house so we visited with them quite a bit and Rick got me out fishing a couple of times. We had a good time and found a new fishing hole with good pike and bass fishing. Tom and Evey were up for four days and Bill and Margaret for the weekend. Now Laura and Sean and the kids are with us for the week and then Geoff and Bonnie are coming up for a long weekend. Wow!

Work is going well and the stores are busy as well as the wineries. Lots of summer people up and things are hopping. We hope to hear from anyone who would like to visit so we can fit them in. It's been a good summer and it's going fast!

Here are a couple of pictures from the past week.

I was in Suttons Bay on a beautiful sunny day enjoying the views.

Fourth of July Week Fun

We had a lot of company over the weekend and good weather for the festivities. The kids all had their share of sun on the beach and fireworks over Lake Leelanau. On Wednesday we went to visit with the Goodfallows and had a barbecue in the back yard with them. On Friday we went to the Cedar Polka Fest and on Saturday we went to Traverse City for the air show at the Cherry Festival. Saturday night we had a bonfire on the beach at Good Harbor and we saw fireworks on the beach at Lake Michigan.

Here are some pictures from last week.

3rd of July

The holiday week is here and the time is flying by. Nancy and I have both been busy and enjoying the part time work and getting used to living in the north country. The towns are full of tourists now and the crowds are getting bigger each week. We have been bike riding on the trails, and canoeing on some of the small lakes in the area.
Jenny and her puppy came up on Sunday and are here for the week and Mike's family and Becky's family are coming up tonight for the long weekend. Looking forward to a fun time.
Here are a couple of pictures from the past week.

This is Tucker Lake, on the west side of Miller Hill. This is the small lake we saw from our walk on Sunday.
