Late Christmas Festivities

We finally were able to celebrate Christmas with the family in Brighton yesterday. It was so good to be together with everyone, although we missed David and Liz and Sarah. (We did Skype with Liz and Sarah so we actually did get to see them).

Heading South

We're all loaded up and leaving in the morning. It flurried all day today, but after the sunny fifty degree day we had yesterday the roads should be good.
Nancy's mom had her appointment with the orthopedic surgeon and is now at 50% weight bearing on her left leg. Tendercare should be able to start working on physical therapy with a new level of exercise for her. Her spirits have been very good and she is determined to regain her mobility and independence. She will be at the rehab center for the next eight weeks and we will see what March brings for her.
We will be spending the next five days downstate visiting family and friends and then it's south to Florida starting on New Year's day.

We had lunch with Betty on Christmas day. On Monday we watched her do well at her physical therapy session.

Sunday the deer were out feeding. I counted thirty two in two different fields.

Florida bound. Hitched and ready to roll.

The bikes and kayaks are on and the winter warriors are on the move!

Getting the Urge to Move

We are getting near the Holidays and and it's almost time to start our most excellent adventure for winter 2017! The snow is starting to pile up and we've been burning the fireplace for the past eight weeks keeping the house nice and warm. The camper is slowly getting packed and we are trying to tie up loose ends before leaving the north country.
Nancy's mom is being taken care of at Tendercare in Suttons Bay, recuperating from a broken femur just below the hip. She is in good spirits and keeping up with her re-hab as she gains her appetite and makes small strides at getting mobile again. She fell on Friday, December 9th and was at Munson Hospital in Traverse City for three days. We have been visiting her almost every day and we see her making progress and are hoping for a good outcome.
We are looking forward to visiting with the family downstate for a while between Christmas and New Years and then will take advantage of the first good weather to start moving toward Florida for the winter.
Wishing everyone a glorious Christmas and a most wonderful 2017!

The snow has accumulated to about fifteen inches!

I've had enough snowblowing to know that I'm ready for the sunshine!
