Another day in paradise

We are back in "quiet mode" since Becky and the kids left yesterday. Nancy and I both worked today and headed for a beach picnic for dinner. The sun is starting to set much earlier now and by eight thirty it is down.
Today the deer were out in force. I saw eight on the way to work, two on the way to the beach after work, and five on the way home from our picnic. Two were bucks with their antlers still in velvet.

Another week closer to Labor Day!

We had a lot of company this weekend with Becky, Dave and the kids and Mike and his girls. Goodfallows joined us for dinner today to see everyone before they went back home.

We got out on the big lake today for some salmon action. Problem is we didn't get much action. We had a fish on early but lost it, and then another hit but no hook-up. A little later Mike pulled in a Lake Michigan whitefish, so at least we got a couple of fish dinners out of the deal. It was a beautiful weekend and everyone had a good time.

Mike has a great fish photo technique. It makes the fish look like JUMBOS!!
I.m looking forward to whitefish fillets on the barbecue.

Wednesday Night Beach Picnic

Tonight was the second time this week we had a meal at the beach on Lake Michigan. Saturday we grilled brats and burgers for lunch and tonight we had a picnic for dinner and then hiked the Little Traverse Lake loop trail.

Here are some photos...

Another Week Closer to Labor Day!

We had a good week and on Friday brother Bill and Margaret came to visit for the weekend. We had a good time and had a barbecue on the beach for lunch Saturday and then a great dinner at the Bluebird Restaurant in Leland. The Goodfallows joined the four of us for a rib barbecue on Sunday and we had a good time seeing everyone.
The weather is starting to cool down a bit and we are wondering if we will see eighty degrees again this year. Our highs for the week are forecast in the upper seventies and sunny skies for the week. It could be that the dog days of summer are behind us?
We are looking forward to a nice fall, but aren't in a hurry for the end of the nice weather.
We are gearing up for a busy house next weekend with lots of company from the kids and grand kids.
Congratulations to proud parents Suzy and Matt Sebastion on the birth of their new son Bennet Joseph Sebastion.

GREETNGS TO ALL!

Summer is winding down quickly but Glen Arbor is still very busy. I was surprised at all the people in town when I got out of work yesterday.
This past weekend I was downstate to help Tom move into his new apartment near 28 Mile Rd and Campground. The move went very well and we were done by 3:30 on Saturday afternoon. Now Tom and Jenny are both in a new place so be sure to update your address books.
Nancy and I are enjoying the area and have been biking and canoeing and exploring new places.
Hope everyone is well.

This was my welcoming committee when I got home on Sunday. We finished dinner and they were in the backyard.

A Busy Weekend and great weather

We had a busy weekend with Mike and his family and friends with us for a couple of days. Everyone seemed to have a good time and enjoyed Lake Michigan, Glen Lake and the attractions around Glen Arbor. We also got to see Jessica and Aaron yesterday and today Jenny and Kyle stopped by for dinner on their way home from Elk Rapids.

The weather took a turn to coolness today after being near ninety on Saturday. Today we barely made it to seventy. It makes it feel like fall is coming too soon .

Here are some pictures from the weekend...

It was a beautiful, clear day. We could see four islands.

The sand was blowing and stinging every ones eyes!

Tuesday is the last day of July!!

My, my how time flies when you're having fun! It will be August in two days and we hate to see the summer go fleeting by. We haven't had the terrible heat that was happening in southern Michigan and have only had to run the air two days. It works great, but its nice not to have to use it much.
We are looking forward to a visit from Mke and Amy and the kids this weekend along with Steve, and Aaron and Mike Rowe and his wife (oh, and their little ones too). The weather is supposed to stay nice and hopefuly we will get out on Lake Michigan to sample the salmon fishing that is supposed to be so good this year. Nancy and I spent a day on Glen Lake drowning minnows in search of the elusive perch dinner. We got one perch and a few small bass, but didn't get the dinner part of our agenda. Thank goodness Carlson's is still catching whitefish, we bought some filets and had that for dinner today.
The swimming has been wonderful on Glen Lake and Lake Michigan. We took a swim in L. M. this afternoon and the water was a little cooler due to an offshore breeze, but nothing we couldn't handle. How refreshing!!

There's a storm rolling in ths evening and we are hoping for a good rain.

Hope all is well with everyone reading this!!
