Halloween Night

We spent Halloween night with Mike in Romeo. Once again Tillson Street came through with the most over the top decorating we have seen. These folks go all out to give the kids a thrill on Halloween and now Pleasant Street is also stepping up to the plate!

Tomorrow we are heading back up north, but we had a nice stay here with the kids and grand kids.

Here are some pictures from Halloween...

We are spending Friday night near Laura and Sean in Brighton. We have a room at the Holiday Inn Express. Saturday night will be at Becky and Dave's then Sunday and Monday night with Tom. We plan on getting back to Wheeler Road on Tuesday to pick up where we left off and get more work done on the interior of the house.

Back in Southern Michigan

We had a busy day today winterizing the boat and camper. (Yes we are done camping for the time being). We came down to Toms and will be flying out to Colorado on Sunday. We return next Friday and will be back up north on November first.

We are thinking that winter may be coming early to the north country so we wanted to get the boat and camper freeze proofed before we went away. Our leaves are almost all on the ground already at Wheeler Road.

Here are some pictures from before we left this afternoon....

The new fence and red front door!

Lights, camera, action!

We are running on the heat pump now. It heats in the cool weather and cools the house in the hot months.

The retaining wall that uncle Bill and Janie helped us with. It rained for three days and the stone is still in place.

Entrance way tile. Nancy is getting pretty good with this stuff!

Ceiling fans, plugs and some lights are done on level one.

Game camera pictures of deer in the the back yard. Mike set the camera up when he was here last time.

A shy one.

Three deer in this picture. Where are the big bucks??

Thursday, Oct 20

We are getting ready to drive downstate tomorrow. Weather here is rainy and windy and cold. What a combination! It started yesterday afternoon and isn't supposed to change until Friday afternoon. We are paying the piper for the gorgeous two weeks we had of beautiful Indian summer weather at the beginning of October.

We got more tile down and are finishing the downstairs bathroom now. When we get back from Colorado we will be starting the hardwood floors. We are sooo looking forward to moving into this house!

Hope all is well with everyone. I will post pictures as soon as I can get good Internet connections.

Monday Moaning

We are in T.C. again this morning shopping! We bought two toilets, more tile for the entrance way and bathroom, split rail fencing, and light bulbs. The list goes on and on. It seems like Lowes and Menards are our home away from home!!

We were invited to our home designer's house for dinner on Saturday. We met the couple who are building the house on Oxford Drive next to grandma and grandpa's. they are a nice couple, a few years older than us and from Columbus Ohio. They are doing a lot of the finish work on their house, and we exchanged war stories. Funny how similar our experiences are!

The weather turned quite a bit cooler now with temps in the high forties and low fifties. Still not too bad, but you can tell winters coming. We at least have heat in the house now.

We were visited by a flock of turkeys last Sunday. They roosted in the trees overnight next to the camper. On Monday morning they flew back down and paraded around the yard. A couple of the bigger ones saw the cat and came to it and chased it around a tree! I didn't know turkeys were attracted to felines!!

Wednesday, October 12

We have had an incredible run of weather here with temps in the seventies and eighties for the past two weeks! The moon is full and as bright as a beacon lately.
We have been getting a lot done outside the past few days as well as some work inside as Mike hung the cabinets and we got all the tile in the utility room and kitchen done and grouted. The painters finished the outside of the house today and we put in a sidewalk and planted the first of the landscaping today. Tomorrow the rain is scheduled to start so we will be moving back indoors to paint and to work on the downstairs bathrooms.
Today is my baby girl's 24th birthday! She is still my little cutie and makes me sooo proud!!
Hope everyone is enjoying the fall weather. We are on the last of our leaves and most are already on the ground on Wheeler Road!!

Bill and Janie were with us over the weekend and helped with a couple of projects outside. They built a fire ring and lined it with stones and then on Sunday we worked together to build a retaining wall with stones on the side of the house. The wall took about eight loads of rocks to cover the slope.

Natalie and Hannah were here with Mike for four days and were a joy to behold! The girls slept in the camper with us and Mike was the first one to sleep in the house!!

Mike installed the cabinets in the kitchen on Friday and trimmed them all out on Saturday! He does such beautiful work he wouldn't even allow me to put up any cabinets myself!!

Natalie and Hannah on Sunday hanging with grandma!

Utility room cabinets and tile floor.

The outside of the house is all painted and the pole lamp is ready to go! We even got the sidewalk and some landscaping in!!

The weather has been all you could ask for at this time of year with a two week Indian summer!

October 6

Well it's been a long time since I posted to the blog. Nancy and I have been really busy now that we can work in the house. We have been painting and tiling and painting and tiling and, well you get the idea! We are finding that the work we signed up for is a pretty big job. We have painted the kitchen, utility room, garage, and the family room. The dry wall guys are all done and vacuumed the dust up from upstairs and downstairs. We were grouting tile today and the kitchen is just about done. The painters have been working on the outside of the house, caulking and putting a finish coat on the siding and the trim. Mike and the girls came up today and Mike is going to help hang the cabinets in the kitchen and laundry room since they were delivered this morning. We also have the hardwood flooring in the house ready to be laid. Mike is going to give me flooring lessons and that will be my job in the weeks to come. Brother Bill is also supposed to come up this weekend so we should be really busy!

The weather has been awesome all week with temps in the high sixties and low seventies and crystal blue skies. Sunday is supposed to be eighty degrees! probably the last beach day for those with more time on their hands than me.

I can't post pictures today since I don't have the hardware available, but I will post extras the next time I have a chance.

I hope everyone is doing well and is enjoying the fall. The colors here are really coming along and I have maple trees in the yard that are RAINING LEAVES. The colors are gorgeous!
