Sunday we drove over to Silver Strand which is a barrier island at the outside of the bay. It has Imperial Beach, a small town on the south end, then a state park in the center and Coronado Island on the north end and across from downtown San Diego. Coronado has numerous luxury beachfront hotels including the Coronado Inn which is the largest and most spectacular.
We rode our bikes from the state park to Coronado Island and around the island along the coast. They had a bike path along the water that went in front of all of the hotels and all the way around the Isalnd. We rode through some beautiful neighborhoods with nice houses and some that were really incredible. The real estate prices here must be out of sight! Afterwards it was back to the state park and the beach where we had parked earlier in the morning. We sat on the beach and enjoyed the sun even though the breeze was quite cool.
Chula Vista Marina next to the campground.
Some of the duck we saw at the wildlife refuge. Green wing teal.
Cinnamon Teal
A beautiful pintail duck in the preserve.
Tight quarters in the campground, but quiet and nice facilities.
