So far we've travelled without incident. Sunday we had beautiful sunny skies with a frigid seven degrees when we left Frankenmuth. We drove for eight hours on dry roads with very little traffic. The temperature slowly crept upward as we went through Michigan then Indiana (on I-69), and we finally stopped in Elizabethtown, Kentucky at a Good Sam campground. There were actually a few people camped here and the temperature was 36 degrees, but we still had a few inches of snow on the ground.
Today we drove on through Kentucky to Tenessee and at Nashville we took another unexpected turn. Mom suggested driving down the Natchez Trace Parkway and so we took this route south. It turned out to be a great decision and we travelled for over a hundred miles without a traffic light, stop sign, trucker or town to slow down through. This route goes for over four hundred miles and is a great way to see the country down here. We have 45 degrees now and the snow has disappeard. (Making progress)!
Tomorrow we will head for the gulf and plan on meeting up with Bollings to spend a couple of days with them near Mobile Alabama.
