Day one in the San Antonio area

Wednesday was pretty much of a rain out. It got up into the high fifties, but never hit 60. We started off with a walk along the river on the walkway that goes along the San Antonio river. This paved trail system goes from the downtown area to the missions that stretch along the river for ten or twelve miles. After lunch we caught up on our grocery shopping and went to Barnes and Noble to pick up some reading material.
We plan on biking into town today to tour the Alamo, the river walk and to grab lunch at one of the many great restaurants along the way. This is a great town for sightseeing and very user friendly with signs pointing you to all of the various attractions downtown.
A couple of pics from yesterday...

We saw these strange geese in the river yesterday. I used my new birding guide (from Barnes and Noble), to identify them as Egyptian Geese which are not native to North America. They are escapees from a private collection or a zoo, but are living in the wild here in San Antonio.

I also photographed this strange bird along the path near the river. (She was not in the birding guide).
