Maui Beaches

We had a beach day today. We returned to the beach we found yesterday and spent the day there. We just lazed around and played in the waves and sunned ourselves. What else should one do in Hawaii!
After spending all day on one beach we drove into Hana and hiked in to the red sand beach that is advertised in the brochures. We must be doing things right because all of the tour busses keep bringing people to all the places we are visiting!

We got to the beach at 10am this morning and we beat the crowds.

Nancy's favorite place in the world...a warm sunny beach!

We watched whales spouting out in the ocean. They were about three hundred yards offshore.

A view from the hike to the red beach.

And here it is. Red lava rock forms this unusual beach.

The sand was a gritty rust color.

On Friday we are moving to our third destination on Maui at the western end at Kihei. This will be a beach front condo. We should get some good sunsets there.
